What do we stand for?

Cultivating and nourishing welcoming, safe environments is a top priority for all those involved in TeamSlatts events.

Those who attend TeamSlatts events, are expected to be there to learn, share and connect with their peers in inclusive spaces. We’re very grateful for the diverse and curious group of passionate individuals who make up our audiences and we trust that everyone in attendance will act in good faith.

There’s nothing more important to us than the safety and enjoyment of the communities we serve. After all, without the support and goodwill we receive from those in our midst, our events wouldn’t be possible.

Events – by their very nature – are dynamic environments that require everyone in attendance to keep each other honest. If something happens before, during or after the event that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe for any reason, TeamSlatts encourages you to let us know promptly, so we can nip the issue in the bud.

We ask that all who attend our events (whether online or in-person) respect every individual’s journey and understand that the harassment of our attendees, speakers, sponsors or staff on any basis or in any form will not be tolerated. We’re committed to ensuring that everyone – regardless of their gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, physical and cognitive ability, physical appearance, mental health, body size, race, ethnicity, beliefs, or opinions – can enjoy and contribute to our events. The beauty of TeamSlatts events is the meeting of minds with differing perspectives, and we ask that you extend the same respect to each and every point of view in the magic mix.

By participating in our events, you are agreeing to behave in accordance with our values. In turn, if you feel unsafe at any point during our events, please know that the team at TeamSlatts will have your back.

What constitutes harassment?

Harassment includes, but is not limited to, offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, physical and cognitive ability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, beliefs, schools of thought and opinions.

Harassment may also take the form of intimidation, stalking, following, non-consensual photography or recording, the sustained disruption of presentations or other events, inappropriate physical contact, the presentation of sexual images in public spaces, or unwelcome attention in any form. Please be mindful that your personal intentions or opinions aren’t the objective standard when it comes to what constitutes harassment: what may seem like a harmless joke to you may be offensive to others. Attendees at TeamSlatts events are expected to read the room and adjust their behaviour in response to those around them. We understand that reading social cues can be a challenge. A good way to know you’re on the right track is to avoid pointing out faults or things people cannot change, and seek instead to contribute positively and use tact when supplying feedback.

Ultimately, we expect you to present your thoughts and conduct in a way that is thoughtful and considerate to others.
